Marion Lichty: Random #1

Grudge is about a “haunted” house in Tokyo, Japan.  Evil spirits infest the house and all who enter end up dying.  The family that previous lived in the house were killed by the father.  Now the evil spirits appear in contorted forms attacking the people who come into the house.  The individuals are either killed within the house or will end up dying wherever they go.   One woman makes it out of the house, only to be haunted by the creatures.
Grudge is a disturbing movie about evil spirits.  The movie shows that a bad event can cause evil to fester in an individual or spirit.  The evil in that house grew so substantially that the spirits that were trapped in the house would torment and kill anyone who dared entered the house.  Even if the individual survives the initial escape, they have already been infected by the evil and will dying shortly after in some gruesome death.  I think the Grudge did a good job at portraying, how evil can spread from one person or spirit to another and how one evil act can start a chain reaction.
