Paul Meredith- Movie Blog: Oz

The movie, The Great and Powerful Oz, was an toss up for me. The movie showed a couple traits between the different characters involved. What I took from the film was a good vs. evil theme. The two witches involved, had negative traits within their selves. One of the witches was filled with jealousy and the other witch was power hungry. These are two traits that will take a toll on someone and cause them to do things in order to harm them. Oz, on the other hand was known to help people and put them first. He had a caring heart and the results were shown in the end. What I thought was unique, because I also take modern language fairy tale class, is that many cartoons or fairy tales always end with a lesson to be learned. I believe in this movie, it showed how one should not portray the negative traits that the witches showed and use your abilities to help others as shown by OZ. Overall, this movie did not interest me as much as I thought it was based on the previews, but I enjoyed watching it on a large screen and a different setting.
