Samantha Bray- In Class Post 5

Northfork

Northfork is a movie about a small town that is being taken over by a businessman. I’m never really could figure out if they were really building the dam for good reasons, or just so they could have all that lake front property. This movie was honestly kind of boring to me. I found it hard to stay focused on it. I think what lost me was the side story going on with the little boy. I didn’t really pick up on any of the connections to the things on the nightstand until we talked about it in our discussion. They all made sense after the fact, but I didn’t get it to start off. The comic book character had the same name as one of the angels, same with Flower and Cup of Tea. I just thought it was strange how there were two completely separate stories going on throughout the entire movie. Another thing I thought was interesting was the use of fading from scene to scene. Instead of just cutting it off and then the next scene popping up, they did the overlay fading sort of thing. It was a great way to transition. It reminded me of our lives and how things never just stop and start up; everything overlaps and leads into the next stage of life.
