I recently watched the new chick-flic titled "The Silver Lining Play Book" and to my surprise it was actually really good. It wasn't your typical love story about a guy and a girl who fall in love. The movie started by portraying a man who had been put into a hospital for criminals (much like in The Jacket). The man was placed there because he walked in on his wife with another man and then proceeded to beat up the other man. The man is released into custody of his mother but throughout the movie the viewer sees that he has a very loving, but dysfunctional family. The man also still believes that his ex-wife loves him even though she now has a restraining order. Everything changes for the man when he meets a woman who in some sense is just as crazy as him. This woman's husband recently died which caused he to fall into a state of depression and sleep around with a lot of people.
Upon meeting, these two people's personalities crash extremely violently. Both characters are hard to like but as the movie progresses is seems that they are actually perfect for each other. They are unknowingly providing support for the other. This goes on until the end when the man realizes that he is no longer obsessed with his ex-wife but this new woman instead.
The reason I thought this movie was so refreshing was because it was original. It was almost hard to watch some parts because of how awkward the charachters were but by the end of the movie i was cheering for both of them. Overall it was a great movie and I highly recommend it to anyone.
