Paul Meredith- Reading Blog

After reading Anton Karl Kozlovic article  "The Structural Characteristics Of The Cinematic Christ-Figure," I have a much better understanding of some of the themes and symbols shown throughout movies. In Koslovic article (2004), he states “Christ figures can be identified either by particular actions that link them with Jesus.  They are usually the central character in movies and are placed in a savior mode.  This savior mode includes the characteristics of rescuing, liberating, leading, transforming or saving functions. He says Christ figures sacrifice and death is specifically for others based upon higher principles, and is usually done with honesty sincerity, and nobility.  Those who he saves are usually less worthy, have less ability, talent, and power” (Kozlovic).  Since I have read this article I can easily pick out some of the religious views and biblical figures shown in movies.
