Can Tylenol Help Ease Anxiety?

In an article by Mike Damente, he explains a study done at the University of British Columbia. These studies split their patients into different groups. They gave some groups Tylenol-brand acetaminophen and other groups a placebo. The individuals that were receiving the Tylenol said they didn’t feel as upset after talking about death and other existential topics. The conductor of the study explained that this is because pain is beyond tissue damage and deals with internal feelings and thoughts. I think that this is very interesting. It is very true when you are feeling upset about something, your body can feel the pain as well. It is important however that people do not try using Tylenol as a way of coping with their feelings and emotions after reading this study. Over use of a pain medication can make someone’s body become immune to the medication to the point where it will stop working.
