Steven Watts-The Chronicles of Narnia
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe is an allegorical representation of a christian view on the world. Although there are many different aspects of this movie that have distinct importance to this film, I most enjoyed Aslan's character. The C.S. Lewis was really able to capture the actions and life of Jesus Christ and portray them through the character of Aslan. Aslan's death and resurrection is a direct representation of the resurrected atonement that Jesus Christ completed with his death and resurrection. The sin, death, and strictness of the law all seem to be represented by the white witch(sin and death) and the deep magic (the law). When Aslan rises from the dead, he is able to bring new life into his armies that is capable of defeating the White Witch. I think that this does a great job of representing spiritual warfare. It portrays the very important lesson within christianity, that we are not able to fight sin and evil on our own, but when humans have the power of God on their side, the outcome is always new life.
