Paul Meredith- Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko was an very interesting film. I could not really get a grasp on Donnie's character in the movie. I also went back and forth on some of the symbols throughout the movie. Some of the themes I have taken from this movie other than the obvious time travel includes discovery of life and death. Also another interesting part of the film was the use of the bunny rabbit. In reality the bunny rabbit represents Easter which is also known as rebirth. This was interesting because I could not tell if the rabbit was evil or good in the movie. Another symbol was the water flowing from the chest. This symbolized life force and the voyage of self discovery. Another thing about the movie that I found interesting and weird at the same time is the camera angles the directer elected to use. The camera shots were taken to look like Donnie was being watched and guided throughout the film. Overall this movie kept me wondering what was going to happen next and I enjoyed watching it.
