Boston Marathon
After hearing all about the explosions in Boston, I decided
that it probably could relate to this class. I read several articles about the
event and realized that our country today is in such chaos. How does someone think it’s okay to
go out and kill and injure innocent people? The only thing keeping hope is
society is that there are more people helping out than are actually doing these
bad things. Runners finished the marathon and then continued running to the
hospital to donate blood for those who got injured. So many spectators dropped
everything and ran to help out the injured. I also saw a Google Doc going
around that people were filling out to offer a place to stay for those
displaced because of the explosions. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people
were opening their homes, cooking food, and providing transportation to those
in need. Mr. Rogers once said, “When I was a boy, and I would see scary things
in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always
find people who are helping.’” I think this is a great quote and something that
everyone should remember during this tough time. As long as there are people
helping, and there is more good than bad, things will be alright.
