Steven Watts-Hunger Games

After viewing this film and speaking with a few of my friends that attended with me, many of them did not seem to be able to draw many religious or spiritual relations from the film. However, I found this film to be filled with many religious or spiritual themes. The greatest theme found in this film is, faith.  There is strong faith placed in friends, family and the hope for justice. All of these seem to relate to many themes found within religion. Many times, people partake in a religion because of their hope for a strong bond within their family, or they believe that their religion can free the world from all of the hate and evil  that corrupts our world. Although I am uncertain of the religious figure that Katniss represents, it is undeniable that she represents a beacon of light and hope for the oppressed citizens of PanAm. The great city that the contestants visit represents the immense materialism and oppression that the world can use to cause our faith in the world to diminish. The small light that Katniss is able to bring into the lives of the PanAm citizens who are viewing the Hunger Games from their small desolate towns, is such a strong example of the power of what a small amount of faith and hope can have in a person's life.
